Planting plants, trees and shrubs

All keen gardeners enjoy plant shopping, but do you find you end up with a patio full of plants that need a home? Give us a call and we can do the hard work and plant them up, whilst you get to sit back and relax and enjoy your stunning garden.  We can help enhance your garden by planting up beautiful and varied flowers borders. This might be plants you have selected or ones you have asked us to find for you.

Using succession planting it means your garden looks great during all the seasons of the year. Do you find that your garden looks fantastic in June and by September there is nothing of interest? We can help by including later blooming plants such as Dahlias.  We can also help you choose a specimen tree or shrub that has a great architectural form even in winter. We can source this for you and plant it adding nutrients if necessary to give an early boost.

The spring is an ideal time to split some of your existing plants and move to other areas of your garden, effectively getting another plant for free. You can also separate bulbs in the green such as snow drops and encourage them to naturalize.

With our RHS knowledge and over 20 years of gardening experience, we use the most up to date and best methods to plant plants to make sure they have the best opportunity to establish strong roots and maximum flowers.

Bulbs and Tubers

The autumn is the time to think about next year’s spring and add colour to you borders and pots by adding bulbs such as Narcissus and Tulips. It is also the time to dig up tender tubers such as Dahlias. The tubers need to be stored in dry frost-free conditions to survive the winters and then can be started off in pots the following spring before moving outside once the risk of frost has passed.

Mulching

One of the most important jobs is adding organic matter to your garden. This will improve the soil quality, structure and texture. If you have produced your own compost, we can add this to your borders, or we can obtain a bulk bag on your behalf. Adding organic material is one of the best ways to improve plant growth. The other benefits are weed suppression and water retention as well as a uniform appearance to your flower beds.
